The Sanctuary’s kitchen is now serving up culinary delights! When you are stressed and tired, what happens to your diet? Do you reach for comfort food or a piece of fruit?
As a caregiver, you must feed your body well to hold up to the demands of caregiving. You also will set a good example for your loved one, who will also need to pay closer attention to their diet! So, support each other and eat healthy! Support each other and rediscover the flavors of fresh, natural foods!
1 large banana (ripe, but not turning brown)
½ to ¾ cup strawberries
1/8 to ¼ cup Milk or Soy Milk (optional)
A few ice cubes (optional)
A little honey to sweeten, if desired
You may freeze the banana or fresh strawberries ahead of time, if desired. If you do so, omit the ice cubes. Mix items in blender, starting with part of the frozen ingredients first. Use pulse setting or short bursts of the blender to mix frozen ingredients. Gradually add the remaining frozen ingredients and small amounts of the liquid, if desired. Mix until thick like a malt. Pour and serve!
