A Fundraiser for Sparta Area Cancer Support in Honor of Family Caregivers Month

November is National Family Caregivers Month. It’s a good time to remember those who are suffering with cancer and their caregivers. This disease has a devastating impact on our loved ones and their caregivers. The physical, emotional, and financial toll is heavy. Through the Sparta Area Cancer Support (SACs) organization, our community has done an outstanding job of coming together to be there for these people at a time when they need a friend more than ever.

Now, you can help make a difference too. In honor of Family Caregivers Month, you are invited to join us in an online fund-raiser for SACS. We are donating 10% of our November royalties made from the online Amazon sales of our new book, “Cocoon of Love for Cancer Caregivers: Get Through the Tough Times” to Sparta Area Cancer Support (SACS). May Day Musings

Happy May Day!

The first of May always makes me think of my Mother.  Every year on May Day, she would recall her childhood days.  On May Day, their neighborhood would leave May Baskets on doorsteps for each other, then ring the doorbell and hide.  It was a fond memory.  Although we never did May Baskets, I always looked forward to hearing her tell the story every spring.

Although the celebration of May Day may have fallen by the wayside, there is much to celebrate as we enter the month of May.  We see the grass greening up nicely while tree buds swell and burst open with new Read More→

New Years Resolution

Happy New Year!  It’s hard to believe that 2010 is here.  Each time we throw out last year’s calendar and put the calendar for the new year in it’s place, we have a reminder of how quickly the past year has gone by.

What will you “do” with the new year?  How many resolutions have you heard friends and family reciting?  Have you made any resolutions?  Whether you are into resolutions or not, this time of year offers us all reminders to examine how we live our lives.  What would you like to do better?  What areas of your life would you like to improve on?  As a caregiver, you may not have a lot of time to do what you would like to or should do.

Make a commitment.  Make a resolution to take better care of yourself in 2010.  Do you need to improve your diet?  Are you struggling to find time to exercise?  Do you neglect your sleep habits?  Making a commitment to yourself at this time of year is a wonderful way to start the new year.  Start fresh.  It will give you a new sense of control at a time when you really need a boost.  Be accountable to yourself and a buddy.  Take care of yourself.  Commit and be renewed.  I know you can do it!  By doing so, you really will be heading into a HAPPY New Year!
